Chassis Focus – Silvio Hachler

Sun-HachlerK8-1

Chassis – KM Racing K8
Engine – Novarossi Keep-On 21-9XLS
Fuel – Mecca Fuel
Tires (handout) – Matrix Tyres
Radio/Servos – Sanwa/KO Propo
Remarks – Worlds Finalist Silvio Hachler is having his first race with new sponsor KM, running the new K8 chassis. Having only had limited testing time with the car back in Switzerland he is still learning the car and figuring what to do but like most has had to stiffen up the car with harder shock oil and switching from a blade a wire front anti-roll bar. With the car quite heavy in standard form, Silvio is running a full set of titanium screws which saves him 30 grams over the kit steel screws.

Chassis Focus – Mark Green

Sat-Green747-2

Chassis – Serpent 747
Engine – Novarossi
Fuel – Mecca Fuel
Tires (handout) – Matrix Tyres
Radio/Servos – Sanwa
Remarks – Mark Green is running the basic 747 with some new plastic ball joints as he awaits for the soon to be released follow up, the 748 Natrix. The British driver is also running the older shock package and after trying multiple set-up changes to the car has reverted back to what he ran at the Worlds in Thailand nearly 2 years ago, which is much softer than most drivers here are running. The biggest change to his race package this season has been the new Novarossi Virtus .12S, with the offset carburettor which he says idles really well and has much improved fuel mileage over his previous engine.

Chassis Focus – Mirko Salemi

Sat-SalemiBP-1

Chassis – BP Racing RS4
Engine – Novarossi
Fuel – MLC
Tires (handout) – Matrix Tyres
Radio/Servos – Sanwa
Remarks – Former European B Champion Mirko Salemi is running the new RS4 from BP Racing. The Italian made car features CNC machined wishbones all round with the top versions made of aluminium with the lower versions from plastic. Like a lot of cars currently on the market it has the brake on the rear axle and has some nice details such as the adjustable rear upper wishbone. Mirko has been running the car for more than 2 months now but it is the first race with Novarossi engines. In terms of setup he has made very little changes to his standard setup just running a thick wire front ARB in place of the standard blade version.

Chassis Focus – Dario Balestri

Sat-BalestriLabC02-2

Chassis – Capricorn Lab-C02
Engine – XRD F12
Fuel – Runner Time
Tires (handout) – Matrix Tyres
Radio/Servos – Sanwa/Savox
Remarks – Former European Champion Dario Balestri is running the Capricorn LAB C02 for only the 2nd time here in Melzo and is still learning the setup and finding the feeling for the car, yet despite that has TQ’d the 2nd round of qualifying. Also running the XRD F12 engine, having ran Novarossi all his career, he is having to get used to how to set the motor as well as adapt to the power delivery. In terms of setup he is running gear diffs all round with 500k up front and 150k in the rear and a medium stiff setting on the suspension. One interesting piece on the car is the tower of foam on the throttle servo used to stop the body tucking under in the high speed corner at the end of the main straight.
