VugaFocus

Chassis – Xray RX8
Engine – Reds M7 WC
Radio/Servos – Futaba

Remarks – Former European Champion Jernej Vuga is delighted with his package this weekend in Austria, telling us his RX8 is running very well and in terms of configuration is pretty standard. Running few optional items he is using new shock pistons, still in the prototype stage, as well as some aluminium options to reduce weight and add style to the car. Running his usual setup, he only worked on camber angles to help deal with the different grip levels throughout the weekend.

Chassis focus – Francesco Tironi

TironiFocus

Chassis – Capricorn LAB-C02
Engine – Capricorn SQ-R
Radio/Servos – KO Propo

Remarks – Like Greiner, Capricorn’s Italian driver Francesco Tironi has chosen to use the solid axle here in Kirchberg, this being an option he very rarely uses. In the post-qualifying free practice he also tried a Protoform P56 body which he will use for the main event as it seems to give the car more on-power steering. Francesco is testing a rear camber link that doesn’t feature the classic upper arm, this is intended to get more flexibility and add rear traction. On his car you can also spot some white ergal parts, that come from a pre-production batch. We understand that the official Capricorn driver tests the quality of each batch himself before sending the parts to be anodized, quality control being one of the main concerns for the Italian factory.

Chassis focus – Dominic Greiner

Dominic Greiner

Chassis – Serpent 747
Engine – Picco Torque
Radio/Servos – Futaba

Remarks – Young Serpent driver Dominic Greiner, who found his pace in round 3 ending up second behind Pietsch, is using a mostly stock car. The only major option he has installed on his 747 are the new shorter shocks which combined with the lower shock towers give the German driver a better feeling. Regarding the setup, Dominic told us this is the first time he is using the solid front axle, which he has chosen to help get more forward traction out of the corners.

Chassis focus – Robert Pietsch

Chassis focus - Robert Pietsch

Chassis – Mugen MTX-5
Engine – Novarossi Keep-On
Radio/Servos – Sanwa

Remarks – Top Qualifier here at Kirchberg, Robert is using a standard MTX-5, although he managed to test some new parts that might be released soon. Apart from those tests, Robert told us that he’s sticking with the standard setup he is used to and that the car is pretty well balanced. With new tires he experienced a bit of understeer, but that is the same for every other driver. Very happy with his complete package, he said he’s confident for tomorrow as longer finals are his natural habitat.

Chassis Focus – Adrien Bertin

Chassis Focus - Adrien Bertin

Chassis name – KM HK1 “Meen”
Engine – Orion CRF R12
Radio/Servos – Ko Propo/Orion

Remarks – Adrien is racing the new KM touring car, named after last year’s World Champion Meen Vejrak.  The main features of the new car are a different gear ratio which gives more steering at high speed, a big positive here at the Kirchberg track, along with the option to use a wire anti-roll bar in the front end. The engine is Orion’s latest release and is characterized by a longer stroke, which means everything but the rod and the bearings is completely new. Here in Stohr-Ring Adrien has opted for using Ride shock springs, which give the car more forward traction but require a smoother driving style, according to the former World Champion.
