‘From Race Control’ – Day 1, Practice/Qualifying

fri_racectrl

Round 2 of the new Euro Nitro Series in Austria this weekend, where the weather is set to be the biggest challenge for both the championship organizers and racers. It is not a case of if it will rain but when it will rain in the mountainous Aigen area and therefore the timetable for Day 1 is almost probably set to change over the day. Originally the timetable for today consisted in two rounds of free practice, followed by two controlled practice runs to determine the seeding of the heats for qualifying with the day concluding with two rounds of qualifying. With the weather forecast for the area constantly changing, Sunday now looking to be a particularly wet day, Race Director Uwe Rheinard is looking to go straight from free practice into qualifying. Seeding the heats manually, the plan then would be to run as many dry qualifiers as possible with three being the target for the day.
