Expected to be released in 2 weeks time, the gearbox the only remaining parts to be finalised, WRC are currently looking for team drivers for the new car. Having raced here in Fiorano a few weeks ago at the Novarossi trophy he says the track has much lower traction this weekend due to the many 1/5th scale cars running here recently. With the traction continuing to improve, Andrea has worked on increasing steering by going for a harder rear ARB as well as springs and oil, while up front he has opted for softer springs.

Chassis Focus – Lamberto Collari

Sat-CollariMRX5-10

Chassis – Mugen MRX5 WC
Engine – OS Speed 2101R
Fuel – MLC
Tires (handout) – Hot Race Tyres
Radio/Servo – Sanwa/Futaba
Body – Protoform R18
Remarks – 9-time World Champion Lamberto Collari is running the MRX-5 from Mugen with some MLC modifications done to it. Up front, and soon to be released by MLC, are a pair of front body stabilisers which help transfer front downforce from the body away from the top of the shock tower to the lower wishbones where it is needed. Also tested by 2-time World Champion Adrien Bertin, the part can give a measurable difference in lap times. Choosing OS engines here in Fiorano, he has chosen to use a lightweight Hipex pipe whose surface has been hard coated which not only strengthens it but prevents the pipe from losing strength caused by it constantly heating up and cooling down. The car includes other MLC options such as lightweight alu parts, clutch and brake disc. In terms of set-up he is running harder shocks and softer sway bars in order to find more traction and better side bite.

Engine – Reds M7 WCS
Fuel – Tornado

Remarks – ENS Round 2 winner John Ermen is running the latest RX8 from Xray with a number of self made modifications to the geometry. At the rear he has cut the upper a-arm to create more flex which gives the car more on throttle traction. He has also lowered the front upper arm holders by 1mm for less roll and as a result get more steering. He is also using Italian company Project’s 1/8th quick release wheel axles front and rear. The setup he is running is his basic one from the recent German nationals but he has tried to reduce roll by running harder oil in the shocks and opting for softer springs.
